Peripheral nerves serve as networks for the brain and spinal cord (Central Nervous System) to communicate with the rest of the human body. However, injured peripheral nerves may cause gaps in this signaling pathway to induce defects in motor and sensory function. Aleo BME has developed off-the-shelf nerve conduits that can rapidly promote peripheral nerve repair using our proprietary biodegradable polymers. Aleo nerve conduits exhibit optimal mechanical, topographical, and biological cues to enhance nerve regeneration. Our nerve conduits promote rapid nerve regeneration and function (motor and sensory) recovery without adding any growth factors and/or cells.
Aleo nerve conduits have excellent bio-compatibility and provoke minimal inflammatory response. Through a unique proprietary design of polymer architecture, Aleo nerve conduits possess soft, elastic, and highly kink resistant mechanical properties, exhibit excellent surgical handling capability and well-controlled degradability, and promote fast tissue regeneration and functional recovery.
Our recent animal studies demonstrated that our nerve conduits displayed nerve regeneration capability comparable to that of autograft and are superior to control PCL and silicon tubes.
